International Scientific Conference

We invite you to participate in the Young Science Congress, which will once again be held at the University of Gdańsk. The invitation is addressed to students, doctoral candidates, and young researchers who are beginning their academic journey and wish to broaden their research horizons, develop skills, and establish contacts within the scientific community.

This year’s edition of the Congress has been designed in response to suggestions from participants in previous years. Even greater emphasis is placed on networking, exchanging experiences, and developing practical skills that support young researchers not only in scientific activities but also in building their career paths.

The Congress programme includes plenary lectures, conference presentations, discussion panels, workshops, training sessions led by practitioners, and extensive networking sessions.

Additionally, during the Congress, a poster session will be organised in collaboration with Gdańsk University of Technology. Unlike conference presentations, posters can cover a variety of research topics and are not limited to issues related to the organisation and functioning of young science.

The event will be an opportunity to exchange experiences, learn about good practices, and discuss the challenges faced by the younger generation of researchers.

WARNING! This year, organisers are accepting only submissions on the organisation and functioning of early-stage science. Concurrently, networking sessions will be organised within individual disciplines, during which participants will have the opportunity to:

  • briefly present their research interests,
  • exchange experiences,
  • establish individual contacts and collaborations with other young researchers.

The Young Science Congress is an event with a tradition dating back to 2017. So far, around 3,000 people have participated in the conference. Participants in the Congress from the humanities and social sciences are, as in every year, invited to submit articles to the journal „Progress”, which is indexed in databases such as DOAJ and ERIH+.

The proposed thematic scope of the submitted papers particularly includes:

  • public policies concerning higher education and science,
  • the system of funding scientific research and support for young scientists,
  • working conditions and career development for students, doctoral candidates, and young researchers,
  • the role of local governments, industry organisations, and public institutions in the development of science and innovation,
  • collaboration between universities, local governments, businesses, and social organisations,
  • internationalisation of science and mobility of young researchers,
  • good practices in the management of universities and scientific institutions,
  • open science, access to research data, and scientific communication,
  • the system of science evaluation and its impact on the development of young scientists,
  • the role of student and doctoral organisations in shaping the academic environment.

The Young Science Congress is a recurring international and multidisciplinary scientific conference held at the University of Gdańsk. From 2024 onwards, the Young Science Congress will also be organised by Gdańsk University of Technology and Gdańsk University.

The conference is attended by students, doctoral students, and other young scientists.

The representatives of Gdańsk universities who form the scientific committee ensure the high quality of the presentation.

The fifth edition of the Congress was record-breaking. During the conference, nearly 600 speakers from over 100 scientific centres participated, presenting in nearly 80 scientific panels.
