Student agency: theory, practice, activism

This panel will offer an interdisciplinary reflection on student agency in both contemporary and historical contexts of higher education. The discussion will draw on theoretical frameworks of student engagement and development, alongside empirical research and case studies.
We will explore when and how students become genuine agents of change within academic and social spaces, and examine the ways in which higher education institutions either support or constrain their agency.
The panel seeks to bring together historical, sociological, pedagogical, and political perspectives, and to create a space for collective reflection on the role students can—and should—play in shaping democratic and inclusive universities.

Nowoczesne Zarządzanie Zasobami Ludzkimi: Strategie, Kompetencje i Rozwój

Rethinking mental health

This panel explores diverse interdisciplinary perspectives on mental health, challenging biomedical models and highlighting lived experience, community approaches, and systemic factors. It invites dialogue on inclusive, person-centered, and holistic paths toward the future of mental health care.

Regulatory Frameworks for Algorithmic Decision-Making

In an era where algorithms increasingly shape critical decisions across healthcare, finance, hiring, and governance, robust legal frameworks are essential to ensure fairness, accountability, and transparency. I will go into the complexities of regulatory responses to automated decision-making, exploring emerging policies that govern algorithmic development and deployment. I will explain the efficacy of existing regulations, identify critical gaps, and discuss best practices for ensuring stakeholders-from developers to end users-are adequately protected.

Key issues include liability for harms caused by algorithmic biases, the scope of transparency requirements, and the continually evolving international data protection standards. I will examine how legislation, such as the EU’s AI Act, can serve as both a template and a challenge in establishing global norms. The session also explores cross-disciplinary collaborations that leverage legal expertise, data science proficiency, and stakeholder engagement for robust compliance strategies. Attendees will gain a nuanced understanding of legal tools and enforcement mechanisms aimed at mitigating risk while enabling innovation.

ChatGPT na studiach – pomocnik czy przeszkoda w nauce?

ChatGPT i inne modele językowe zmieniają sposób, w jaki studenci przyswajają wiedzę. Czy ułatwiają naukę, czy raczej obniżają wysiłek poznawczy i zdolność krytycznego myślenia? Prezentacja wyników badań nad wpływem LLM na efektywność uczenia się wśród polskich studentów.

Contemporary Perspectives on the Classical Accordion

This panel is composed by eleven people, from Poland, Spain, Serbia, Croatia, China, Slovenia, and Portugal. The panel provides a spectrum of insights upon the classical accordion within the realms of pedagogy, microtonal and equal-temperament systems, didactics, original music literature, musical transcription, interdisciplinarity (f.x: „Unveiling the Soundscape Between Accordion and Plant Bioactivity”), artistic interpretation and music theory.

Physical science

My research is in medical imaging and image reconstruction from the two PET isotopes simultaneously via the application of techniques in nuclear medicine devices (PET). I would rather be in the Physical Sciences panel due to the physics involved in my work but also could be in the Medical Sciences panel due to the medical imaging scenario.

Multifunctional Nanocomposites for Drug Delivery and Biomedical Applications

This panel focuses on the development of multifunctional nanocomposites for drug delivery and biomedical applications. It will explore the synthesis of hydrogels, electrospun nanofibers, and biopolymer-based nanocomposites, with an emphasis on improving mechanical properties, biocompatibility, and responsiveness to external stimuli. Key topics will include the use of cellulose nanofibers (CNF) and superparamagnetic nanoparticles (SPIONs) in creating advanced drug delivery systems, scaffolds for tissue engineering, and controlled drug release. The discussion will address challenges in integrating these materials into practical biomedical applications and their potential to improve therapeutic outcomes.

Where Are We? A Discussion on Forensic Anthropology in Poland

This panel seeks to establish a platform to discuss the current and future directions of forensic anthropology in Poland. We invite students, scholars, and professionals to contribute their current and past research, offering insights into theoretical advancements, methodological innovations, and practical applications within this discipline. By fostering an interdisciplinary approach, we aim to explore how forensic anthropology intersects with related fields, enhancing its scope and impact. In addition to highlighting developments within Poland, this panel warmly welcomes contributions from international participants, enriching the discussion with diverse perspectives, experiences, and ideas. Together, we hope to build a comprehensive overview of the progress made in forensic anthropology while identifying areas for further exploration. Submissions spanning theoretical frameworks, methodological approaches, and case studies are welcome, reflecting the diversity and depth of this dynamic field. We also welcome contributions from related disciplines that may have forensic applications (e.g. biological anthropology, dental anthropology, archaeology, etc.). We welcome submissions both in Polish and in English.
